Coach Leigh Jones started her coaching career at McGill Toolen High School as the assistant softball coach under Coach Bill Griffin in 1994. After completing 2 season at McGill Toolen and advancing to the state tournament, Coach Jones left McGill for Satsuma High School.
At Satsuma under the direction of head Softball Coach Barclay Kercher the Lady Gators advanced to 3 state tournaments finishing 4th, 6th, and 7th. Coach Jones also assisted Coach Kercher in Volleyball beating Mcgill Toolens Dirty Dozen and advancing to the elite 8 state tournament 2 season.
Coach Kercher and Coach Jones left Satsuma to start a new softball program at Spanish Fort High School. After their second season working together Coach Kercher was named head Soccer Coach, and Athletic Director Coach Barry Gibson named Coach Jones Head Softball Coach.
In two seasons as head Coach, Coach Jones advanced to the state Elite 8 both years, finishing 4th and 7th in the state. These were the first state tournament appearences for the softball team.
Coach Jones also coached the JV basketball team for two season going 14-6.
In 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022 Coach Jones coached the middle school volleyball team winning the county championship.
