Welcomes Special Author

      We take pleasure in sharing that Ted dunagan, author of a very special young adult novel, called A Yellow Watermelon, will be joining us on April 23 for a student presentation.  He will be speaking to our 7th-8th grade gifted students. 

Mr. Dunagan received the Georgia Author of the Year in the young adult category award for A Yellow Watermelon, a tale of the friendship between two boys, one white and one black.  The book has also been selected as an Accelerated Reader title.  Mr. Dunagan will talk about the writing process, what it's like to be a published author, and read a few of his favorite passsages in A Yellow Watermelon.  He'll also describe the book's underlying history, unfamiliar to most school-age kids today.  Copies of A Yellow Watermelon will be available for purchase at the presentation.
